In October of 2015, the organization expanded to include Tindegani, a public school near Boma Ng’ombe. The region is populated by Maasai who stay in the area mainly during the rainy seasons. During the dry season, the male Maasai pastoralists move with the cattle to other areas in search of food, leaving the area populated by women, children, and the elderly. During famine or a bad farming period, many children forego school in search of food or income to buy food. As such, dropout rates at Tindegani are significantly lower when students receive school lunch. After establishing a breakfast and lunch program, which provided both food and fresh water, Amka Sasa continued to work with the school and was able to complete two new projects in 2019; building a water tank to provide the kids with fresh, running water, and building a new kitchen to cook the meals for Tindegani’s 200 students. For many students, these meals are their only food for the day and providing them helps guarantee student attendance.
