Grant Writing Intern

 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Work closely with Lalafofofo Executive Director (supervisor) to submit applications.

  • Help identify potential funders for Lalafofofo, including foundations, institutional partners and organization funders. 

  • Contribute to Lalafofofo database of potential grants, including timeline and requirements of grants. 

  • Select 5 grants and draft a complete application for each, including a proposal for funding the Vocational Training Institute for Lalafofofo’s Girls Scholarship Program. 

  • Attend monthly meetings with other Lalafofofo interns and employees, take specific note of the Girls Scholarship Program and Women’s Employment Initiative.

  • Other related activities as mutually agreed upon.

Requirements:

  • Current college student. 

  • Access to reliable internet and laptop/computer.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English).

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel required. 

  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.

  • Commitment to women’s empowerment. 

  • Familiarity with Tanzania and/or the Maasai is a plus. 

Terms of Engagement:

  • Time of position is for the Summer 2021 (June 1st – August 13th, 2021).  

  • 10 hours / week; timing flexible, work remotely.
