Social Media Intern

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Work closely with Social Media Coordinator (supervisor).

  • Contribute to Lalafofofo’s social media accounts and post weekly content (3 posts per week). 

  • Help draft material on Lalafofofo’s US and Tanzanian programs and campaigns on Hootsuite and MailChimp.

  • Attend monthly meetings with other Lalafofofo interns and employees and take note of updates on the 

    • Girls Scholarship Program; 

    • Solar Lantern Initiative; 

    • COVID-19 Food Relief Program; 

    • and Women’s Employment Initiative. 

  • Assist with fundraising campaigns, as needed. 

  • Download and organize social media analytics and discuss with Social Media Coordinator. 

  • Conduct comparative research of other non-profits’ social media accounts, as needed for ideas. 

  • Other related activities as mutually agreed upon.

Requirements:

  • Current college student. 

  • Access to reliable internet and laptop/computer.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English).

  • Basic understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. 

  • Prior experience with social media maintenance and marketing preferred, but not required. 

  • Experience with making social videos and Hootsuite is a plus. 

  • Commitment to women’s empowerment.

  • Familiarity with Tanzania and/or the Maasai is a plus.

Terms of Engagement:

  • Time of position is for the Summer 2021 (June 1st – August 13th, 2021).  

  • 10 hours / week; timing flexible, work remotely.
